Secular Commissions

Commissions for secular work include schools and libraries, shopping centres and office spaces and also private residences. Windows for the home can be for bathrooms, kitchens or as a feature to an entrance hall.

I trained in textile design and still retain a strong sense of design and decoration within my stained glass work. Colour is also of great importance. Different techniques are used to produce interesting surfaces on the glass; traditional painting, acid etching and sandblasting. The composition of the leadline is also important, forming the structure of the panel.

Inspiration for designs can come from varied sources, decorative motifs found in ceramics or textiles, snapshots of architectural detail or the natural landscape. Patterns found in natural forms such as plants and seed heads.

The projects illustrated below show a selection of styles and are a direct response to the clients interests and ideas.
